Alliance Remedial was engage to undertake the design and rectification of a Basement Carpark that was experiencing structural failure. Due to poor quality control at the time of their construction, a number of the Reinforced concrete elements had signs of shear and puncture cracks causing the slabs to bow. As result, the basement was forced to close.
Working with our close team of Engineering consultants and designers, we were able to come up with a design utilising structural steel components to brace and reinforce the structure. Our team’s collaborative efforts was able to save our client over $ 600,000 dollars by reducing the number of steel components with much larger Sections.
The Works were undertaken in two stages. The first required temporary propping and bracing to jack up the structure to its original position. While the second stage involved a team of dedicated riggers and fabricators to fix and install the large 20mm thick PFC beams and Columns in place. The building was than further monitored for any deflection or sagging.
In total, the rectification was complete in 11 weeks, a full 8 weeks ahead of our clients program.
